Mechanical Brushing - Rental Solutions

Mechanical brushing of (inner)tube bundles is one of the most commonly chosen methods for cleaning heat exchangers, chillers and more. The concept is simple, a machine drives a flexible shaft, which in turn rotates a brush. The rotating action of the brush keeps continuous friction on the tube and will quickly loosen the deposits on the inner tube wall. In combination with a water flush, the contamination is also directly flushed away. The water also works as a cooling agent for the internal (galvanized steel) core of the flexible shaft.

Applications Mechanical Brushing

Mechanical brushing is best used when tubes need to be cleaned internally. The method is available from an internal diameter of 7 millimeters and up. Contamination that can be removed depends on the selected brushes. In principle, this is: soft fouling (algae, silt and mud), medium fouling such as shells and biological growth and harder fouling such as light scaling and rust deposits.

You can use it to clean various technical installations of well-known manufacturers such as: Trane, York, Carrier, McQuay etc. Think of:

  • Watercooled chillers/condensers
  • (Production) heat exchangers
  • Air Fin Coolers (tubeside)

Different tube cleaning systems

Goodway Benelux Rental Solutions currently offers 3 types of tube cleaners in their rental programme. This is the basis of your tube cleaning equipment. The only thing you need more are flexible shafts and brushes. Below you will find the available machines and the most important specifications and differences:

  • AWT-100X: This is by far the most used tube cleaner of Goodway Benelux. This system is 100% air powered. In optimal conditions, this is the strongest tube cleaner available. This results in an engine power of 4 HP and a variable speed of between 500 - 3000 RPM. This machine can be used both with- and without water. This means that the system can be used for both dry and wet applications. The machine itself is equipped with a heavy-duty dolly. This makes it easy to transport. This device can only turn clockwise.
  • RAM-4: This is an electric tube cleaner with a fixed speed of 862.5 RPM. This device is often used for cleaning smaller chillers and heat exchangers. Especially when the contamination is not very hard, this tube cleaner can perform really well. There is also the possibility of bi-directional rotation, this increases the cleaning effect considerably. This machine can be used both with- and without water. This means that the system can be used for both dry and wet applications. The machine itself is equipped with a heavy-duty dolly. This makes it easy to transport.
  • RAM-PRO: This is an electric tube cleaner with a fixed speed of 862.5 RPM. This system is often used for cleaning smaller chillers and heat exchangers. Especially when the contamination is not very hard, this tube cleaner can perform really well. There is also the possibility of bi-directional rotation, this increases the cleaning effect considerably. The machine itself is compact and small, which makes it very interesting for maritime customers.
