Drilling Open Blocked Tubes

Goodway Benelux supplies equipment and accessories for cleaning and drilling open blocked heat exchanger tubes. The PSM-500 tool is used for drilling. This works with special drill rods that rotate at high speed in the tube and thus remove the blockage. The goal is not to clean the entire tube, just to create an opening. The left over fouling (often limescale) can then be removed by means of chemical cleaning-in-place with a descaler, such as Scalebreak-MP.

In this video you can see how the PSM-500, in combination with special drill rods, cleans a heavily fouled tube cooler. Some tubes were completely clogged with extremely hard limescale deposits. Before a chemical cleaning could be carried out, the blockages had to be removed first.
