Dry Tube Cleaning (projectiles)

Dry Tube Cleaning (projectiles)

In this blog, we will tell you more about the possibilities of using projectiles to dry clean heat-exchangers and condensers. This can for instance be used, to improve and accelarate the drying process of a heat-exchanger.

Dry Tube Cleaning (projectiles)

When tubes are cleaned with traditional methods, usually there is a certain amount of left over water in the tubes and possibly even a small amount of surface deposit. By shooting through special designed, oversized foam projectiles, this can be instantly removed. Other appliances could be to improve the drying process of a heat exchanger. Sometimes this can take multiple hours, by manually shooting through projectiles, this timeframe could be significantly reduced.

We have had customers in the past who went from an 9 hour drying process, to a 1,5 hour foam pig cleaning. Reducing their downtime by 7,5 hours (83%)!

Dry Cleaning Method

Dry Cleaning is the shooting of oversized foam projectiles through pipes, tubes and production lines. This works completely pneumatically and without water.  The idea is that an oversized foam projectile is shot through the tube/pipe. Because of the oversize (5-10 mm), this projectile will remove anything that is loose in the tube(s) as well as liquids. A short video below:

Range of cleaning and Products

Goodway equipment has a range of inner diameters from 5 up to 115 millimeter. For this range, 2 cleaning guns are used:

Jetload Cleaning Package; this system can be used to clean tubes from 5 - 51 millimeter (I.D.)

Jetlaunch XL; this system can be used to clean tubes from 50 - 115 millimeter (I.D.)

Foam pigs should have an average oversize of 5 to 10 millimeters, depending on the size of the tube. On this page you can instantly find out the correct oversize for your tube diameter(s)!
